Toño Barreiro
b. 1965
Zamora, Spain

For more than two decades, artist Toño Barreiro has been developing cross disciplinary work that alternates between photography, painting, sculpture and digital processes. A constant theme in his work is the questioning of the limits of the pictorial medium, using sculptural elements and the rupture of the traditional frame of painting as exploration.

Since the beginning of the new century, one can observe a whole series of new methodologies and creative processes that lead to paintings becoming sinuous and synesthetic, as well as geometric and organic in form. In its origin, we can find the articulation of the line and the plane playing with the concepts of deconstruction, symbiosis, the reference to the most elementary biological processes, overlapping colour fields and folded dimensional surfaces.
